The forested hills of Chianti have long exerted their siren call over lovers of good wine, good food and beautiful views. Podere Castello is set in a privileged position, high on a hill with views of vineyards, forests of evergreen oak, and the fortified church that once protected this small hamlet.
Today this ancient stone farmhouse has been transformed into an elegant home for fourteen guests in spacious en-suite bedrooms. One of these bedrooms is fully accessible, making this house ideal for groups or families where somebody has limited mobility. The private swimming pool has stepped access so all can enjoy the views of Chianti from the infinity edge.
The house is set on a wide terrace with an infinity pool, both facing a view of vineyards and a thousand-year old fortified church. The entrance leads into a light- filled dining room with a large sitting/living room to the right, a large and well- equipped kitchen to the left, and directly ahead, the entrance into a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom that is entirely wheelchair accessible, with also a single bedroom, ideal for a carer.
Heading upstairs there is an ensuite-double on the half landing. The house has 2 further floors, the first with 3 ensuite doubles and then 2 more doubles, also ensuite, on the last floor. There is also a living room on this floor, with sofas and a fireplace.
Outside by the pool a building houses a typical Tuscan pizza oven, as well as a sauna and a Turkish bath.
Podere Castello is in the very heart of Chianti, surrounded by vineyards, beautiful hill towns and excellent wineries. There are lots of excellent hikes through the area, many even going past wine-tasting farms and castles - this is an area with plenty to explore without going too far.
Should you wish to visit the famous cities of Tuscany, like Siena, Florence or Arezzo, they are all within an hour's drive, as are many of the other famous areas and wine cities, like the Valdorcia, or the Valdelsa.
