How to fly to Tuscany
Tuscany has two international airports, one in Pisa and another in Florence. Pisa Airport is also known as the Galileo Galilei International Airport, while the airport in Florence is called the Amerigo Vespucci Airport, also known as Peretola.
They are both on the Arno valley, located about 80 km apart, with Pisa on the coast and Florence further inland. Both airports handle flights to major European cities.
Pisa airport is the larger of the two airports; low-cost carriers Easyjet and Ryanair are two of the major airlines serving Pisa.
Which airport do you fly to for Tuscany?
There are two international airports within Tuscany, in Pisa and Florence, well-served with European flights. There is also an airport in Perugia, close to the southern border of Tuscany with Umbria. This has summer flights from the UK and other European countries.
However, there are currently no non-stop flights from U.S. cities to any airport in Tuscany - but there are other options for getting to Tuscany, like flying into Rome, Bologna or Milan, all of which have larger international airports.
You can take a train from Rome (FCO) to Florence via Roma Termini in around 2h 30m. A train from Bologna to Florence will take around an hour, while a train from Milan will take around 3 hours.
