An elegant villa for 16 on the foothills of the apennine mountains just north of Lucca, Villa Bartolomeo has been recently restored to its former 18th-century glory by a painstaking local owner. Today it has all the elegance and charm of a bygone era coupled with the amenities that make modern life comfortable; it has a beautiful private pool set in formal gardens, a lift, AC throughout and spacious comfortable bedrooms.
The views from the villa are wonderful, ranging over the Serchio river valley towards the jewel of a city that is Lucca, just a 10 minute drive away.
Accommodation
The ground floor of this historic villa has a beautiful living room centred on a fireplace and furnished with comfortable sofas. On the other side of the entrance hall there is a spacious dining room, ready for those few days you might not wish to dine outside, al-fresco, under the furnished and shaded pergola.
At the back of the house there is the original kitchen, where the owners' respect for the past and enthusiasm for the future is most apparent, with the original kitchen maintained and restored, including a wonderful working fireplace with charcoal burners, as well as a large stone sink, all paired with a wall of modern kitchen appliances.
There is also a beautiful studio, the perfect place to work away from home, as well as a ground floor bathroom and a lift to reach the further two floors with ease. On the first floor there are two ensuite double bedrooms as well as an ensuite twin. On the floor above there is a further double with ensuite bathroom, as well as two twin bedrooms which share a bathroom.
The villa is surrounded by its own formal gardens which also contain a private pool and an annex, the 'limonaia' which has a double bed, a bathroom and a kitchen, making it a self-contained unit that can sleep 2 to 4.

Lucca, just a short 15-minute drive from the villa, holds the distinction of being an Italian "Città d'arte" or "City of Art" due to its remarkably preserved Renaissance walls, originally constructed as a defensive fortification and later transformed into a pedestrian promenade. We can hold dates for you for 48 hours while you make sure everything lines up, then you simply pay the deposit (30% of total) to secure your booking. The balance will then be due 10 weeks before you travel. You can also add "XCover" to your booking for a full refund if you can't travel.

Worth knowing
Many local administrations now charge a “Tourist Tax” for people staying in rented accommodation and these vary from town to town. The charges are generally per person per night with a maximum number of nights, usually around 5 but sometimes 7, beyond which they will not charge. The charges range between 50 cents to 3 euro. Children are sometimes included, sometimes not and these charges should be collected by the property owners.
