This apartment for 5 is on a Tuscan winery just south of Florence. The original farmhouse and annexes have been converted into apartments that allow you to experience Tuscan life, surrounded by the vines that produce the estate's excellent wine.
All the apartments have been decorated with care and verve by the Laura, the matriarch of the family; the Wine Lover is decorated with warm houes of red and orange (hence the name!). Each apartment has its own individual furnished outdoor space for rerlaxing, and there is also a communal covered area for barbecues and outdoor dining.
Located just off the main courtyard, this charming apartment is decorated with warm Tuscan hues of red and orange.
The living–dining room has an open fireplace with french doors opening to the courtyard, and a full but small kitchen in a corner. A private patio outside provides the perfect place for breakfast, dinner or supper.
The apartment has two double bedrooms with a shared bathroom. A third bedroom has a small double bed (120cm) and a shower-room sized for disabled access.
Outside is a secluded patio furnished for eating al fresco, but you can also enjoy other areas in the grounds for an evening aperitivo, find shade under a tree to read, and of course enjoy the waters of the pool.
I visited this little wine estate in May 2021 so we have no reviews yet - these are my impressions. As always, my main focus on a first visit is on the owners and the caretakers - they will be the people looking after you when you visit so much rests on their shoulders. I met both caretakers and the owner, they couldn't have been more charming so I'm confident you'll be well looked after here. The estate has 8 apartments, we have listed three to start with, our favourites. This one, the "Wine Lover" has disabled facilities so I thought it would be a great addition.
The buildings are surrounded by vineyards that are run by the little estate, producing their own wine. THe swimming pool is set higher up the hill than the buildings so you get great views across the Arno valley towards the Chianti hills. You can walk - or drive - down to the local train station and get into the centre of Florence in under 30 minutes, which is a lovely way to explore the city and then come back to your pool and spacious apartment.Dan Wrightson staying in The Wine Lover . This old wine estate is on a slope above the town of Pontassieve, which can be reached via a path in about 10 minutes. From Pontassieve you can easily reach Florence by train, making a perfect spot to relax in the countryside but with easy access to the galleries, museums and restaurants of Florence.

Many local administrations now charge a “Tourist Tax” for people staying in rented accommodation and these vary from town to town. The charges are generally per person per night with a maximum number of nights, usually around 5 but sometimes 7, beyond which they will not charge. The charges range between 50 cents to 3 euro. Children are sometimes included, sometimes not and these charges should be collected by the property owners.
