Enjoying a beautiful lakeside position, this cottage offers private access to Lake Maggiore via a spacious, well tended garden that leads to a private mooring. The house is a charming L-shaped villa with two wings connected by a common courtyard. While the friendly owner lives in one wing, the other is available for rental, and the layout of the house ensures that both peace and privacy are guaranteed.
There is a restaurant within easy walking distance, around 600m away, and others not much further - even the nearest train station is no more than 2km away, should you wish to avoid using the car, and the nearest lake ferry is 2.5km away, around a 30 minute walk or a 5 min drive.
The house has a remarkable sitting room with a pool table, a fireplace and large arched French doors leading to the garden. A dining area is connected to an eat-in kitchen which also has direct access to the garden.
The bedrooms are arranged in an unusual fashion, with a double bedroom also featuring independent access to the garden and an ensuite shower-room. To reach the rest of the house from this bedroom one must pass through a single bedroom, itself adjacent to a bathroom with an old fashioned marble tub as well as a separate stall shower.
Overlooking the single bedroom from a loft level is the air-conditioned master bedroom. On this upper level there is also a second, smaller single bedroom appropriate for a child under 10. Tastefully and carefully decorated, the house offers a romantic lakeside holiday.
This cottage is in an excellent position for those who like to move as well as meditate, for not only are lake swimming and water sports steps away, but tennis courts and golf courses are all within 15 min.
The towns around Lake Maggiore offer spectacular gardens and historic villas to visit and the mountains beyond the lake are wonderful, and each little village with its brightly painted houses seems a terrace on the water.
The three enchanting Borromeo islands are definitely worth the boat ride over: Isola Madre and Isola Bella host the Borromeo palaces and gardens, while the charming Isola dei Pescatori or "fishermen's island, is smaller. One lake away, the charming car-free town of Orta S Giulio invites a slower pace when strolling through timeless piazzas and the Sacro Monte and its terracotta chapels dedicated to St. Francis.
