Casa Rosa is a restored farmhouse at the end of a secluded country road, but minutes from the centre of Lucca. It is set in its own 12 acres of grounds, with a large pool, enclosed with a box hedge, and a children's play area. The house has been carefully restored, with terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. A large pergola on the front of the house gives a wonderful covered area for eating, and has a charcoal Weber barbecue. The guardians and gardeners live in a building close to the house, facing away from you so as not to disturb your privacy. They look after the 5 acres of lawned garden, the seven acres of forest and the olive and fruit tree groves, which are all available for you to explore and enjoy.

The ground floor has a large lounge with an ancient stone fireplace, a games room with a pool table and a comfortable kitchen with a dining table, leading out to the front of the house under the pergola. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a utility room and a shower-room next to it. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms, 2 of which have four-poster beds, and 1 twin bedroom, bunks room and a bathroom and shower-room. The house has a relaxed and spacious feel to it and the ground floor naturally flows into the covered pergola area. With the garden stretching out around the house it is difficult to believe that 5 minute drive will get you into the centre of Lucca.
Around Casa Rosa
Lucca is a vibrant and historic city, known for its antiques market, for its many churches and for the wonderful renaissance walls that circle the whole city. Traffic is banned from the city centre and everybody walks or cycles - bikes are available for hire and are an ideal way to explore the city, and to cycle round the top of the city walls. In the countryside around Lucca there are a large number of stately homes, large private Villas with beautiful gardens, like Villa Torrigiani, or Marlia. Further afield you can venture into the little known areas of the Garfagnana, Tuscany's mountains, with peaks around 1700 metres high with walking, climbing, skiing, caving and mountain-biking available. Or head south towards the famous centres of Tuscany - Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra and Vinci are all within an hour and a half away.
