Accommodation

The entrance to the lower floor is on the other side of the house – the Tuscan side. The entrance leads into a large living room with a stone fireplace. Turning right one finds the dining room, which also has a door into the communal dining room; locked if the houses are rented separately. Beyond the dining room there is a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Beyond the kitchen there is a bedroom with its own bathroom and independent access into the garden. Back in the main living room, a spiral staircase leads up into a small, independent suite, while a corridor at the far end of the living room leads to 2 further bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. The last bedroom along the corridor also has its own door to access the garden.

Around La Collinaccia Lower

The house is set in a wonderful position and has views that continue forever. La Collinaccia, like the other houses on the Collina estate, is a wonderful base for visiting the east of Italy; Ravenna with its wonderful Byzantine mosaics or Rimini where one of Alberti's more formal architectural projects, the Tempio Malatestiano, still stands. The Adriatic coast is about an hour away and Faenza, with its rich tradition of ceramics, is within half an hour's drive. Bologna, Ancona or Rimini are better airports to fly to than Pisa or Florence though the latter can easily be reached by driving across the mountains to Marradi and taking the train.
